LEED features in Bancroft Green

Here are just some of the many features in Bancroft Green that are components in our quest for LEED certification:

Geothermal Heating and Cooling
One of the most efficient methods of heating and cooling a home, geothermal HVAC systems use significantly less energy than standard electric heat pumps, resulting in a significantly reduced energy bill.

Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV)
HRVs continually replace the stale inside the homes with fresh air from the outside. They also capture up to 90% of the thermal energy of the stale air and transfer it to the incoming air, resulting in a healthier interior atmosphere without wasting the energy of the HVAC system.

Dual-Flush Toilets and Low-Flow Fixtures
Significantly reduce the need for fresh water.

Site Selection
Bancroft Green is located on previously developed residential land which had been serving as vacant lots for the last few decades. This type of urban infill takes advantage of the previously installed infrastructure, as well as the proximity to all the amenities that the neighborhood has to offer.

Materials Selections
Many of the materials were selected for both sustainability and aesthetics. The brick for the facades and stoops is all re-used, which not only saves the materials from a landfill, but also adds character. The rubber pavers for the rooftops and back yards are made from recycled tires, locally produced in Lancaster County.
