10 Feb Bricks and Railings

The weather is finally allowing us to finish the exterior work on the homes. In addition to backfilling the dirt around the homes, bricking started on February 9th and should take a couple weeks. As with the first phase of homes, we will be using reclaimed brick. For us, it is the right choice from several angles. First, it saves tons of material from going to a landfill. In addition, we really like the juxtaposition of the older brick with our clean lined design and windows. It kind of adds an instant sense of character and place to the home.

We also had a nice visit yesterday from our metal worker who showed off a sample of the new custom railings that are going to run throughout the homes. We are really excited to have the homes be so open, but that means there is an inordinate amount of railing to be fabricated. We think having this modern, yet warm design will help set these homes apart.
